Chuunibyou - "8th Grade syndrome" which describes a person with an overly fantastical view of the world.
The girls can't understand him when he's in chuuni - mode, but Ando thinks there might be a time when he or others develop super powers. Day after day, Ando lies in wait for his female classmates to enter a deserted classroom to watch him pretend he has an evil entity in his arm. He's only playing, though but he wishes it would happen so he could gain superpowers!
His classmates think he's nuts until his wish comes true and all his classmates get superpowers on their own. The first episode sees them checking their powers are working properly, then Mirei comes along and challenges them to combat (but not to the death). Ando gets chivalrous and says he will fight them one on one if they want. Ando doesn't expect he'll have much of a challenge, then she goes and steals his powers.
On first look, this could look like just another harem themed anime where Ando is considered mainly useless by his own classmates even though they pretend to look up to him as their leader, they are actually capable of looking after themselves as well as intelligent enough. Written by Kota Nozomi, it's not hard to notice that this is an anime which is aimed primarily at a male audience. The story revolves around Ando and the others in the Literature Group; Jurai, Tomoyo, Hatoko, Sayumi, and Chifuyu. There they have to make sure they keep their powers in tip top condition as there are others in the school who have similar powers who want to destroy what they have. There is also a lot of jealousy from Mirei, who everyone thinks is Ando's girlfriend.
From cosplay to battles with their own superpowers, it is a crazy story where Ando has set in motion something he can't control - not that we would want him to and his friends, who didn't ever believe he would be able to get superpowers have to believe him after all.
Bonus Material: Clean Opening Animation, Clean Closing Animation and Also Available from Sentai Filmworks.
Summary: Watch out what you wish for as it might come true! This is a fun and comical look at superpowers and how funny their wielders can be.
