If you were in any doubt that Pokemon had become a roaring success, this anime series would be the one that gave you a nudge think otherwise. Digimon, like its predecessor enjoyed a huge success and the series expanded, the difference between the two is that the series revolves around creatures from the digital world being made real.

Digimon Tamers has Takato who finds a box full of cards, a scanning machine and a device he knows nothing about in a secret location. Takato keeps drawing a single red character in his school books that he brings to life without realising it, but there are other Digimon out there who want to be found.

The device is able to create Digimon and release them from just being in the cards, but once they are out, will he be able to control them as his friends do?

In his dream Takato sees the different Digimon and their tamers, though he sees them as if he is watching from above. The dream sticks with him all day, leaving him with the thought that he has a purpose in life other than getting good grades at school and impressing his parents. If he wants to become a Digimon tamer though, he has a lot to learn and especially that being a Digimon tamer isn't as easy as he thinks. Getting the Digimon to accept the tamer is one of the main problems a tamer faces as well as foes they will meet along the way.

As Takato's digimon thinks he is also a Digimon, Takato has to tell him otherwise as he is a human who wants to be a Digimon tamer like others dotted around the world. Being a Digimon tamer comes with its own problems though, one of them is keeping them a secret from his parents even though they suspect he already has a pet in his room.

Takato ends up with his own Digimon, which is something he never thought possible in his life. He has also started to get to know others who are Digimon tamers.  They try to help him in his quest to find more and they can help him when his go missing or are off on many adventures, but there is always the threat of a shadowy organisation who intend to steal the Digimon from them.

Fans of the series and related merchandise will enjoy how the character development has progressed, the enemies have got more deadly and how the Digimon still manage to look cute as well as dangerous. The general story revolves around new Digimon cropping up around Japan needing to be helped and the new Digimon tamers trying to fend off the ones who want to destroy them. I am pretty sure fans won't be able to wait for Digimon frontier either.

Bonus Material: None.

Summary: If Halloween is to be fun, it has to have Digimon in it and this is the next step up from scary monsters - enthusiastic Digimon creatures who have to be tamed - enjoy!
