Laura Border: Sheriff of Butts Canyon was one of my fave YA books of 2019, so imagine my delight that Barrington Stoke author, Guy Bass had released another title along the lines of popular 90s movie, Groundhog Day.

Unlike other schoolgirls her age, Anna Gain is always on time, no surprise really as her dad is a clock maker and the house is full of her father's creations. One day though Anna is late for her bus to school and gets trapped in the same minute again and again.

Anna's strange escapade happens when her brother tells her she'll be late for her number 13 bus, hides her school bag and wants to see how she will cope with the disruption to her ordered life.

At first Anna grows more annoyed at missing the bus, being delayed by her brother and other problems interfering with her getting to school, but once she realises she can't break the cycle of reliving one minute, she does finally understand what she has to do and this could be the answer to her problem.

Anna finds she hasn't been living her life as a normal teen. She's never had time for other people who live around her neighbourhood; her life has only revolved around "making every second count" but for Anna there is more to life than rushing around ignoring others.

Anna Gain and the Same Sixty Seconds has a fun bunch of characters who are as funny as they are unforgettable; Mrs Crimp and her rose bush, Late Kate, Mr Upshots dopey Doberman, a pesky pigeon and a comical butterfly act as Anna's co stars in this amazing story.
