As we saw from How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord, people's online persona is very different from their real-life identity. This is what happens in this anime. What the other gamers don't know about the cute, blonde-haired girl who fights in a terrible war is actually a male office guy who has dreams of making it up the corporate ladder any which way.

So many anime series have a modern vs, old storyline in them and the Tanya of the old is actually a modern male used to getting what he wants in the boardroom and as Tanya rises up the ranks as he always wanted to in real life, which is ironic if you think about it. The story makes us question whether there is an order to life. Are we all meant to be followers or leaders, or are we mean to only be leaders in online gaming worlds pretending to be better than we really are?

While we watch this, we can think that but also consider how well animated this series is, the world-building it contains and how we grow to like the characters, especially Tanya who wants to be more than she looks like the online identity of a large-eyed, little girl who at first doesn't look like the leader she becomes, but being the anime it is, it manages to surprise us.

Bonus Material: Promo Videos, Commentary, Textless Opening and Clean Closing Songs plus Trailers.

Summary: The depiction of a person evolving through their online persona is an interesting one and is always one that has us question our lives.
