If opposites do attract, maybe high school student, Hachiman Hikigaya can make relationships work? Here, Hachiman isn't known for being personable, happy or a good mixer, he's a loner with no interest in making friends and thinks that no one else really has friends or good experiences at school - in fact he thinks they are lying when they recount any fun times to their friends.

When Hachiman is told by his student advisor to join the one-member Service Club, he finds out the founder, Yukino isn't what he expected as she thinks she's better than anyone else in the club, though it's not all bad when newcomer Yui encourages them to make cookies with her, and a whole new series of problems comes out of this recipe for disaster.

So what can a loner, a snooty type and a complete klutz do other than annoy each other? The answer to this is a lot as there is the issue of instant attraction from Hachiman as well as the need for assistance from Yui, bless her.  Adapted from the original manga series by Wataru Watari and Ponkan8 and published by Yen Press, this is the perfect older teen's anime that takes a comical look at teens who seem to have no idea what to do with their time at school. Considered a slice of life anime, it also peeks into what drives high schoolers on a daily basis and the reasons for their interactions.

The story focuses on Hachiman most of all as he has felt let down and persecuted by his peers since he attended Sobu High School.  However, by the time he has met the other members of the Service Club, he has started to come out of his shell, instead giving the others around him a chance to prove him wrong about some of his peers. Yukino is the opposite as she is an ice cold beauty who most guys would shy away from, and already has Hachiman on edge, She is one of many stereotypical character types in the story, with Yui as the airhead type who is impossible to hate for various reasons. As part of the Service Club's tasks, the three of them are supposed to ask other students what they want them to help them with - proofreading a novel and making a wedding magazine. Hachiman, you can imagine can go all the way though by helping Yui and Yukino, though the impact of how he goes about this can have disastrous consequences throughout the school.

This is slice of life at its most dramatic and dangerous. I can imagine many rooting for Hachiman to come through the tragedy that is about to happen.

Summary: It's the sort of comedy you can't turn away from, no matter what's happening!
