Time-travel always has its consequences, even when Okarin has his breakthrough in technology from one strange experiment. There are amazing triumphs, but there is always loss along the way. Okarin, in this case, mourns Kagari's loss of memory.
Kagari came to the future with her mother in an explanation recap; in 2036 they time-travelled to the past with Suzuha back when she was only ten-years-old. Suzaha used the IBN 5100 to fix the then Y2K bug, then went to 1075 and then to 1998.
At that time Kagari and her separated and she can only recall her last memories in 2010. Okarin wonders what might have caused Kagari's amnesia. There is the possibility the accident caused it, but there is also the likelihood of someone tampered with her mind on purpose using classic brainwashing techniques. Okarin has a plan that could get her memories back, but before that can happen he has to retrace where her accident happened to trigger them.
I didn't think I would be a Stein's Gate fan at first, but after watching the first series avidly, I developed a liking of the story (though it wasn't a simple one), the characters and even the enemies they meet along their journey. The plot is subtle and the way the enemy tries to get into people's minds is cruel, but at the same time, you can't help but be drawn into the world they are in; future or not. It creates a need for more watching and re-watching, so be careful, Stein's Gate is quite addictive in that respect.
Bonus Material: None.
Summary: For those who like sci-fi and time travel, this is one to watch out for!
