Bleach - The Power of Numbers
When you think of Bleach, you might think of Ichigo, Orihime, Uryu and Chad, even the mention of certain squads in the Soul Society, but something that might have been overlooked is the fact that numbers play a big part in the manga overall.
For example, Ichigo is sometimes represented in Kubo's art with the number 15, not only because his name is a homonym for the number, but he is born on the 15th of July, and he tends to wear t-shirts with this particular number emblazoned on them (not just tees with NiceVibe).
Rukia Kuchiki is a member of Squad 13, which in Western Society is considered to be an unlucky number, but not in Japan as it's an odd number and therefore lucky. The three captains who defected the Soul Society were from Squads 3, 5 and 9 which are also odd numbers.
I wonder if this is was done on purpose to see if readers would notice and make the connection, or it was done by accident.
