CRAFT REVIEW: JOSEPHINE'S CARDMAKING

Josephine's Cardmaking Crafts.

Josephine Nairn has made many crafty cards over the years, displaying them on her YouTube channel (where she demonstrates for Trim Craft) or her Twitter feed for all to see. Her card designs have several folds with accessories that add a touch of class for that special occasion whatever time of year it is.

Her main reason for crafting is due to her enthusiasm about sharing something she loves with other people around her social networks; her love of what paper material, paint etc she uses and how her cards are made, but also her love of demonstrating what she has learned takes over when you take a look at her YouTube channel. Her Back to Basic Monday video is designed for beginners to card making, so her explanations are step-by-step and easy to follow as well as exciting to watch if you want to learn a new craft in a different way.

All these cards are handmade and all have recognisable designs on them. I still consider her box card one of my favourites from on her site as the design looks complex, but the look of the finished card is worth the effort. The card is adorned with fairies that reminded me of Cicely Mary Barker, comes with added potion bottle and butterflies and is perfect for whatever occasion, birthday or anniversary.

Josephine demonstrates for Trim Craft and uses a variety of styles for her cards, frame cards being a popular one at the moment for most crafters, and the one below is a mixture of flowers and butterflies adorning a white frame (be your own amazing)

There are so many ways to say how amazing someone is, and Josephine knows how to make that impact with her plain frame and large, flowery additions to it around almost every corner with her You are Amazing card below. I liked that she used a limited palette, which enhanced the look of the card.

May all Your Dreams Come True is a statement I like to tell others, but in this card's case, it is an interesting one as it is a mixture of plain and jumbled with the sentiment meaning more due to the card's appearance. I liked the composition, the use of gems, stars and holographic card behind the scene.

Josephine also creates her own crafty bits; boxes full of colour you can add to your cards to give that extra dimension; she even makes a flowery front for the box lid with coloured-in papers and gems.

Inside the boxes are painted mini pegs, stick on jewels, handmade flowers, buttons with patterns on them, small stickers and even very small silver Tinkerbells. You can see a few Tinkerbell on her box card below. One of the cards I was sent had poppies as the main design, coupled with ladybirds in an almost Art Nouveau style in pink, yellow and beige. The arrangement is simple yet it comes with a "With Love," sentiment and a pink flowery topper that looked finished.

Card making is one of those crafty things that is worthwhile putting the effort in for and I can see that Josephine has the style, substance and craftiness to pull off any card style and be able to demonstrate it to others - I can say I was rather impressed.
