Asta has to make up for his inability to conjure spells as he is the only one who can't make the magic happen. And it doesn't help that his rival Yuno makes him walk in his shadow.

When the annual grimoire ceremony comes around, Asta has a chance to prove himself, but he gets nothing out of trying and thinks all hope for him is lost until Asta protects his rival from a thief. As a reward for his bravery, Asta is awarded the five - leaf clover grimoire which grants him Anti Mage power - this could mean he could be powerful , even the Wizard King.

Black Clover is based on the manga by Yuki Tabata, produced by Studio Pierrot who have produced Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Tokyo Ghoul. It is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara who previously directed Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls and series composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyazu who worked on Girl's Last Tour.

Black Clover is a real friendship anime full of fun, magic and drama surrounding two people's lives that can be equated to the sort of rivalry Sasuke had with Naruto, but with more bravado. Fans have read the manga and wanted to see the sort of anime that can accurately resemble the manga close enough to give them what they want, and here we can see Sony and Funimation have delivered. As a shonen action and adventure anime with lots of magic thrown in, I would recommend this for those who like to watch Fairy Tail, Gurren Lagann and Bleach as they all have the qualities of action, magic and humor, not forgetting the friendships each character makes that gives them the truest bonds of friendship we can ever have.

This anime also gives viewers an idea of what opposites are like when they get together; one seen as a prodigy, while the other might not get far in life without magic, but who, like Naruto or Ichigo never gave up when life got too tough for them.
