If playing Halo isn't enough for most gamers, Red Vs Blue might be a good series to get into, but only if you have the other ten series. Now at its eleventh season, the two warring factions from Blood Gulch, the Red Team and the Blue Team are now finding that they have to cope being in a canyon.
Working together isn't one of their strong points either, so as you can imagine, this proves to be almost impossible, but surely the characters from the original Halo game couldn't be so stupid? Shannon McCormick, Joel Heyman, Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsay,Gustavo Sorola and Burnie Burns are the voice actors responsible for partly making the series what it is - hilarious. It is the equivalent of a send-up of your favourite anime. Produced by Rooster Teeth and licensed by Microsoft, this comical take on Halo can also appeal to viewers who are used to watching science fiction comedies such as Red Dwarf that use their dire situation to create something truly original. As it's in its twelfth season, and Halo 5 is due out later in the year, think of this as a comic taster of things to come. Everyone likes to see something different, and machinima is one of the ways of editing footage of video games with audio to make a show.
With both teams being left on their own for so long, they are bound to go a little crazy. From the first sight of Halo's Blood Gulch we get to see Caboose was Here plastered on a wall, then you realise it's the menu screen where there are several options; Play Movie, Scene Selections, Special Features and More from RT. It is easy to see the improvements in the graphics from earlier seasons but the dialogue has kept its usual witty self. Both captains are still the only voices of reason and the only ones with real brain cells. For those who enjoy Halo and humour, this is the sort of series to make you want to watch it again and again.
Bonus Material: Behind-the-Scenes Videos, PSA's, Deleted Scenes, Director Commentaries and Outtakes.
Verdict: Red Vs Blue is perfect for fans of Halo and those who like tongue-in-cheek humour - it's a winner!
