Astonished at his own foolishness, Roger is aware he is being used as nothing more than a doormat by him; even though he accepts Marcel has other men in his life. He doesn't like his disregard for him, and the reason for Marcel’s disinterest is obvious. He has grown bored of their life together though they have only spent a short while as a couple. It is much easier for Marcel to push Roger away, denying him closeness and the sexual pleasure they used to enjoy.
