The characters remember their humble pasts more than anything, how their lives were shattered by the coming of the Titans, their hopes and dreams crumbled, but they had their memories. Attack on Titan Season 3 is later on more about revisiting their old hometown of Almaria to see how bad it looks and, more importantly whether they can take it back from the Titan's grasp.

Armin isn't certain that their plan to return to their hometown is a good one even though they are well trained fighters. Armin has the least faith in how well they will do against such a mighty opponent, and Armin might come under pressure from the more gung ho members of the team when he is instructed to give orders for this mission to take back Almaria.

This is a crisis situation and Armin has often given them sage advice when faced with difficulties, yet he still isn't sure if his own leadership abilities when he and the rest of his men have been fighting for so long.

What is weird is the fact they have only come across one sleeping Titan on their travels and seen none when they arrive at Almaria. Here Armin gets to show off his logical skills, coming up with a theory that if there are no Titans visible, then they must have used their Titan abilities to somehow get between the walls in order to best them. His men aren't convinced, yet each time they have listened to their leader the Titans have gained the upper hand each and every time tactically. There is something else though that's part of the driving force if this season; they want to capture Eren, so they have to be careful.

Attack on Titan has gone through its moments of reflection with the constant warring with their enemy, the friends they have lost along the way and the shocking parts with Eren, they have gone through so much and now they are about to go through much more. With a strong set of characters, a powerful story and a great opening song, who could ask for more?
