I enjoyed the last Marvel Omnibus I reviewed; X-Men and the Avengers: The Gamma Quest Omnibus by Greg Cox, so I got quite a shock when this tome was mailed to me. Here, we have Spider-Man facing three of his enemies: Venom, The Lizard and Doctor Octopus in the form of three of Diane Duane's stories, The Venom Factor, The Lizard Sanction and The Octopus Agenda.

This triple bill makes for over six hundred pages of Spider-Man, which is perfect for those who have read the comics and watched the movies made from them.

In The Venom Factor, Peter Parker knows he is part of the Avengers, but he doesn't feel as though he is making a difference as a superhero. What makes it worse for Peter is his private life as a freelance photographer isn't making him as much money as he would like and his and Mary-Jane's combined jobs aren't paying the rent on their new apartment. I found Peter's Venom problem a welcome distraction from his real-life troubles and, as he finds, it's a dangerous one.

The other two stories seem to carry on nicely from where the first one left off, with Peter maturing to the point where he has to accept who he is and that his private life will, at times be chaotic despite his alter ego getting more headlines. This Omnibus is a must-buy for fans of superheroes who have as varied and problematic life as us.
