Now that it's a case of what's done is done, Okarin has to make do with his present and forget what he did in the past. It seems like such a long time since he and his friends experiment with the mobile phone and the microwave, and so much has happened since; not all of it good.
In fact, nothing much good has come of it. World War III is about to happen and Okarin has lost the love of his life. Though there is a positive outcome to all of this later, Mako Hijajo and her professor Leskinen from the Amadeus AI ave created an avatar, a representation of Makise Kurisu that walks, talks and looks like her; sending her to Okarin as an experiment. What they don't realise is that they will only cause him more pain, the realisation that she has gone and will never come back into his life could be more than he could bear.
Suzuka, who is Daru's daughter from the future has come back to change the damage Okarin has done and hopefully prevent World War III, and with the big reveal that Kagari, a girl who was in the craft with her, could tell them more of what they can do to prevent a future of destruction.
Stien's;Gate 0 couldn't have been my idea of a watchable anime series with so many science fiction ones available, I thought I had had my fill of their genre, but this is a change from the norm I have been used to reviewing, and seems fresh and less techy than the other series, and one which has more feeling, plot and reveal shown through the characters. Okarin has to watch everything unfold whether he wants to or not as he is the only one who knows all the timelines and remembers what happens in every one. Stien's;Gate 0 is a sci-fi mystery that deserves merit from regular anime viewersas there is more to this than even I could have anticipated.
Bonus Material:
Stein's Gate Episode 23, Episode 2 Video Commentary, Episode 8 Commentary, Promo Video and Textless Songs.
Summary:Stien's;Gate 0 Part 1 is the thinking man (and woman's) anime for those who like their sci-fi with more feeling, less tech and more brooding insights into various characters!
