Like reading the back cover blurb or a book that is supposed to give the reader an idea of what to expect from the story, I saw the outline of this , the last part of season 1 that has Asta and friends on their holidays when magic snow lures the children into a cruel trap.
I thought I had expected much more from this series, then I watched it, giving it a chance despite how lame the blurb sounded, and became surprised, pleasantly enough at the character building, even the adult nature of some of the series was designed to make us continue thinking of what dangers might lurk for them.
Asta and Yuno both want to become the wizard king and no longer feel they are inferior to those around them, they can prove how motivated they are, and at the same time they also have to protect themselves from the threat of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, with who they have already fought before and given awards for their success; Asta has now got a Junior Magic Knight rank, while Yuno has a First Class Promotion.
The story has several smaller arcs that lead into much longer arcs later on with some of the select Black Bulls members being a part of it, while others are not so nice to come across such as one Asta discovers who could prove quite controversial. Black Clover is an original anime series that although it is made for the shonen market, it has room for both sexes to enjoy what it has to offer.
Bonus Material;
Episode 33 Commentary, Episode 37 Commentary, Inside Studio J: new J City, Inside the Episode, Clover Clips Special Edition, Textless Opening and Closing songs and Trailers.
Summary: Black Clover is more than just a fantasy series made for the shonen enthusiasts among us, it has something for everyone, warring, magic and action!
