When I saw this on Search Press's website I immediately thought of the Pokemon collectable toys that children who watched the anime series back in the 90s really got into. The truth is, no one ever lost interest in the cute little critters as anime and manga have an ever-growing audience.
Crochet expert Sabrina Somers takes us through the richly colourful world of crocheting something trendy and cute that kids will love to swap as much as they did the cards. Each creature is 10cm (1in) high and comes with easy to follow step-by-step instructions on how to make the most basic crochet stitches and what to stuff them with. Also, there are some neat accessories you will need to add the finishing touches to each character.
What I found as I read the book was both boys and girls will enjoy this book as the girls will want to make the cute characters while the boys will love getting the girls to make them boyish characters such as Chamauda, Kajuku, Glamastar and Lunax.
Pocket Amigurumi is the sort of book I would get for crafty types who like something different from the mainstream crochet world we have all come to expect. And like the author, this way of crafting in crochet is for the young ones out there who more than likely want to make them and post them on social media.
