Asta proves in this second part that he has really grown from being that abandoned young boy back in Hage, with the vision and need to become the Wizard King, but his problem is he has no magical ability. His only bonus is his drive to succeed even if he has no powers. Though if he trains his mind and body to accept new powers, there is every chance they might come.

To say this series is long awaited is an understatement, from the studio who brought us Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul and Yu Yu Hakusho, Pierrot gives us the second part of Black Clover, an action/ fantasy series with a twist. As these episodes unfold, Asta realises his perseverance pays off when he has to visit a magical dungeon with Noelle and Luck, but others are also on the trail of secrets to a whole wealth of magic, but once Asta realises that it is him who is really being tested, he makes sure he gives it his all as he is the one unexpected character who can deliver when others need him to.

Asta discovers that the Black Bulls are quite a competitive bunch who set their sights high, as most do, but fall short of their expectations - thankfully, Asta has managed to earn them a star for their efforts against Saussy. Though, Asta has to understand that this doesn't really make much of a difference as they need many more if they want to make a mark as an elite squad.

Like with such anime as Naruto and Bleach, the main characters have a chance to see if they can work well as a team or on their own initiative, and these episodes pretty much revolve around that idea. These characters have to find out what it is like to be part of a group and making a success of it, or in their case trying to, but it's no good being hard on them, through the course of these character-building episodes, Asta, Noelle and Yami all have something to bring to the table as it were, so no one can be written off as a bad or useless character. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing these characters go on their journey together and work toward a common goal, and that's not bad at all considering how many anime cliches are in it.

Black Clover is a story that shows how one kid can make a difference against all odds in a fantasy world where all kinds of evil things lurk around the corner, or some fun can be had - this anime had me from the first episode!

Bonus Material:

Summary: Black Clover has the characters, story and animation to be proud of - go out and get it if you like fantasy anime with some humour and action threw in - oh, and if you like a cool underdog, you'll like that too!
