Malorie Blackman has done a lot for children's fiction. I remember reviewing her earlier novel, Robot Girl knowing that Malorie would keep up creating the magic of her story telling for all, whether its sci fi, fantasy, or the modern era. A Dangerous Game and Peacemaker are some of her best. Malorie has also been awarded the Children's Book Award and the Eleanor Farjean Award as well as an OBE for her services to children's literature.

Did I ever mention how much I like coffee table books? This is the sort of thick tome your friend could brag about while inviting you into his new home. Through Bram Stoker we got to read of one of the most iconic supernatural villains in literature thinking his novel was the only one around. As readers we would be wrong.

Star Trek authors have often come up with interesting ways of commanding our attention and if we are lucky, we can read of the exploits of who we consider to be our favourites from our chosen era. As I enjoyed the early series of Deep Space Nine, this first novel in a three part series seemed to entice me to read further.

What promises to be King Arthur, laughs, dragons and adventure proves to be that in spades. The Knights of the Drop Leaf Table was last year's hilarious novel where Arthurian legend became full of laughs and hearty japes with characters like King Artie and Queen Gwinny, knights like Sir Percy, Sir Prancelot, and Sir Bone De Gannet and Sir Angela (a girl in disguise), but don't get me started on the horses, they can't be trusted, especially Gnasher and Breakwind.
