From the author, who gave us Nellie Choc-Ice Penguin Explorer and Big Trouble for Nellie Choc-Ice, this time around Nellie is on a crusade to save an island from being choked by plastic rubbish.

Nellie is on her way to the South Pole which is her home only to find out Captain Beardy-Beards submarine has got stuck in an island of plastic bottles, containers and rubbish. Being stopped this way isn't fun but Nellie's strength, guile and brains get them out of trouble.

She has to be quick about it too as she wants to go see her friends and relatives. This is one of a series of books in the Little Gems series aimed at children with a message to cut back the amount of plastic we use, or if possible not use it at all.

The books cover is easy on the eye, comical, yet delivers the message that we all have to try and protect the world we live in by making small choices that can make a difference.
