When any anime ends up being made into a live action movie, we tend to see if it is true to the original anime and even the manga. This one seems to tick all the boxes, even getting an actor who looks like Josuke down to his wild hairdo.

In Diamond is Unbreakable, high school kid, Koichi is accosted in an alleyway by four thugs, one of which wants him to pay a fee to get to his school. When it looks like he is about to get beaten up, a mysterious stranger with a funky hairdo takes them on all at once, eliminating the threat. Koichi is impressed that he can make such strange moves and thanks him for saving his life.

It looked to me that Josuke, who is a bit of a celebrity in the area had been placed into a more modern day era than the original setting of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, which was more of a period piece. in the manga, it is now the late nineties and a lot has happened since Dio tried to kill Josuke's parents and influence the world.

At the same time, Jotaro Kujo is looking for Jojo as he wants to tell him about the strange goings on in this strange town, one is of a man who has evil stand powers he intends to use, and is under the influence of a poisoned arrow that originally belonged to Jojo's enemy, Dio. A man is deliberately going around killing people, then bringing them back to life with stand powers so he can manipulate them to do his work.

Josuke/Jojo can manipulate time and space as well as repair damage to objects such as Koichi's bike. Jojo lives with a local cop and his sister and it seems he has a good life but his father isn't pleased that he takes matters into his own hands. There is another occurrence where a possessed kid takes a young woman hostage at knife point threatening to cut her. While the public are visibly scared, even running away, Jojo steps in and saves the girl, but has to run too when the police cone onto the scene.

What impressed me about this movie was how close it looked to the manga, and how the actors brought out the character's personalities so well. I didn't, like so many others expect this to be so good to watch and how well it would look with part of the story taken out of it, but with the imaginative scenes, fun fight choreography and even better CGI, it is one I could proudly watch again and get the same feel the manga gave me.

Bonus Material: Theatrical Trailer and Trailer.

Summary: If you liked the anime and the manga, you will enjoy this - guaranteed!
