Synopsis:
After a fierce battle between humans and vampires, a temporary peace was established, but Kaname continued to sleep within a coffin of ice… Yuki gave Kaname her heart to revive him as a human being.
These are the stories of what happened during those 1,000 years of Kaname’s slumber and at the start of his human life.
After reading the first series of books and watching the anime, I eagerly awaited this new series of manga for those die-hard Knight fans who can't get enough of the two main characters; Yuki and Kaname. Okay, I've a soft spot for Zero, but that's something I'll have to deal with myself in my own time.
A lot has happened since the end of the last manga; Yuki knows who she really is and her lineage to the vampire elite. Before I go on, if you aren't a fan of Vampire Knight, I would suggest going back to the start on this as it is worth looking into the main characters so you know what the story is about. If you already know, ignore me, I'm being pedantic.
The funny thing is, at first Yuki and Kaname aren't the main focus of the story; her friend and Hanabusa are, which is strange, but I suppose it is Matsuri Hino trying to make us wait for a satisfying payoff. The art is vibrant and the emotion in the characters always makes me want to reach for the cleenex. Kaname and Yuki haven't aged a day, but after what happened in the previous manga, Yuki does look different, which I like as she seems more mature.
If I say too much, there will be spoilers and I'd rather say that fans of the series and the manga will enjoy this new novel of short stories revolving around established characters, all with some fun inserted into the very emotional mix.
