Yuki, Kurumi, Yuri and Megu stay over for the night in the most unusual place imaginable; school only to find they are the only survivors of a zombie attack!

Each girl has her own personality, full of beans Yuki, digging chick Kurumi, the centre of attention Yuri and strange adviser, Megu. The strange thing about these four girls is that they continue life at the school as though nothing has happened - I suppose in order to keep their sanity, and who can blame them?

If you watched High School of the Dead you were aware of what you were watching, there were fun characters set in a disastrous scenario of survival and eventual demise; here in a way you don't quite know what to expect as the characters are cute and unassuming, so if you were watching it for the first time and hadn't seen the manga, you would think it would be a cute, funny anime - until you get to the zombie survival bits.

As expected, the outside world is dangerous and survival is the name of the game, but not before we discover each girl's personality in full as a bottle show at first as the story surrounds these four and their actions at the school trying to live a normal school life. Once we get to know more about the girls, this is when the story changes to one about what happened before the zombie outbreak. While the anime could be considered girly and cute, it is worth a second look as the story tends to get darker the more you watch it, and without giving away too much, you will be surprised nearing the end at how the characters really deal with their school life, not to mention each other's deep intentions.

I liked the look of the anime, its initial cuteness and the fact there was a story beyond the cuteness after all. One to watch!

Bonus Material: Clean Opening Animations, Clean Closing Animations and Also Available from Sentai Filmworks.

Summary: Not your usual cutesy zombie anime - keep an eye out for this impressive one!
