The Alpha Quadrant is witness to the Purifying Flame, a bunch of fanatics who want war above anything else. In response to this, the Federation sends the USS Prometheus to help prevent war but little do they realise they have to deal with the Renao and the Klingon captain of the IKS Bortas who also wants a shot at war.

The second in the Prometheus trilogy comes at a time when the new TV series Star Trek Discovery debuted in 2017with the Star Trek movie reboot and a fourth film confirmed with sites keeping the fandom alive and well for all. Humberg and Perplies already have a good writing history, though it is Humberg who has written before for both the Star Trek and Doctor Who franchises.

It doesn't take much to create unrest among people. The Renao of the Xhehenem in the Lembatta Cluster ate met with a preacher who tells them the balance of the spheres has been disrupted and the fault lies with otherworlders who have interfered with their old ways. The Renao on first glance seem to be a simple race not used to being angry for no reason, yet the preacher who visits seems to whip up trouble; people who were dear friends go into a frenzy desiring blood.

The general feel of the trilogy was such for me that I felt I enjoyed having the original series characters brought back in a movie style series I could relive, along with several other characters I had grown to love from the other series. The cameos from some being a clever touch to keep the action, character-driven drama and Star Trek feel there.
