MANGA REVIEW: I.D.O.L. VOL 1
IDOL Vol 1
Author/Artist: Dany & Dany
Publisher: Yaoi Press
Originally published in Active Anime.
Painter and muse need to find their perfect harmony.
IDOL Vol 1 is a modern romance in an era of one night stands, dangerous liaisons and eventual despair then loneliness even though it leaves hope for these particular characters.
Renowned artist, David Andrews can't seem to find his flow with his art anymore until he contacts Adam Vane, asking him to model for one of his new paintings. Much to his surprise, Adam agrees to be his muse and David discovers he is the inspiration he has been looking for.
Adam might be the perfect muse, but he has a troubled past that revolved around hustling, forbidden love and jealous clients.
Author and artist team, Dany & Dany have created a story of two men who have lives that are more similar than they think. David once used his own body to make fast money in the same way as Adam and through these similarities they get to know each other better. The romance is realistic, interesting in emotional terms and as an artist David dislikes his own work, yet he is paid well for producing it. His main desire is to give Adam his heart hoping he will be the one he had waited for his whole life.
This first volume shows the agony and the ecstasy of an artist wanting to offer his heart to a man who can offer him comfort and understanding he needs away from the world of toxic art circles and scathing critics.
