Luffy has always wanted to become king of the pirates, and so far there's been a lot standing in his way. Now he has more to contend with as the Snake Princesss tries to help him get through the prison of Impel Down, only can he survive the toxic gas given off by the Warden, Magellan?

Life has looked bleak for Luffy before, but he could die if his new allies can't get to him in time - cue Ivankov, the one man who could give him his healing hormones to bring him back before the worst happens! The one snag is that his healing could take too long, and cut Luffy's life span.

In the past, Luffy has been able to go on quests to help his friends and others he comes across. He has the ability, similar to Naruto to make potential enemies see sense, but this quest has found him needing to free his father from the confines of the underwater prison of Impel Down. Dubbed the world's greatest prison, it houses only the worst criminals who back stab each other in an attempt to have an easier time there. Life is the worst too for some and his father is one who has to endure the shame of being held there where constant brutality is a way of life for the prisoners and prison guards enjoy whipping the life out of them on a daily basis. All the brutality and whipping is done in a purely comical way, of course as these prisoners know eventually someone will come along and get them out of there.

This turn of events comes when the pirate empress, Hancock enters Impel Down, but she isn't alone; Luffy is with her, only he is hidden inside her dress. Hancock's presence is appreciated by the men there as she is viewed as more beautiful than imagined as she is a celebrity among the pirates. Her reputation as a pirate heroine doesn't disappoint when she helps Luffy get his father away from the prison.

It's been a while since we've seen Luffy this intense about saving someone, his father is the one person he would have never thought he would find, though it looks like he has him to sail the seas with now. What many of us will notice is Luffy's optimism throughout this collection and ones before it, it never ceases to amaze me how he can see past the despair of a person's plight and work a way through it without it getting him down. Hancock is just as cool as him, but his friends never share this optimism, which can worry us viewers!

What did I like about this? The comical aspects of the story, the crises the characters end up in and the way Luffy's friends always back him up when he needs them, and he does have a lot. The bonus material in this collection is bountiful, and Chopper Plays Doctor is a favorite of mine.

Bonus Material:
Disc 1: Episode 425 Commentary
Disc 2: Chopper Plays Doctor, Textless Opening Song: Share The World, Textless Opening song: Kaze wo Sagashite and Trailers.

Summary: As one of the most talked about anime series ever, this one impresses us the most too - this is Luffy and friends at their best!
