Yumi has been sent a WDC Eve invitation to a special party that happens before the dual carnival finals. Everyone is jealous of course but someone behind the scenes thinks he can get in too.
Yumi's interest in having a good time at the party isn't the only reason he wants to go. After he found out his father was trapped in the shadow world, he needs to know more and to do that he needs to find a certain man.
First things first though Yumi needs to get into the venue with his invitation card, but it is only when he gets there that it's not on him. One of his friends suggests he go under the red carpet, causing a scene in front of the guests.
While Yumi thinks he is there for the games and his friends having a good time, what he doesn't know is three kids have been paid off to bring Yumi to a dangerous foe.
Whenever I watch each successive series of Yu-Gi-Oh! similar things happen to the main character; their father or grandfather goes missing, bullies spoil time with friends or he is faced with a foe he couldn't possibly beat in a fair fight. You might be expecting me to say this series is too formulaic or repetitive, but I remember reading the manga and enjoyed it and think the animators have done well to bring the anime to life. The choice of voice actors is also a wise one as there will be a few fans of the English dubs will recognise.

Summary: Yu-Gi-Oh! has evolved over the years and come to be a more sci-fi anime full of hi-tech adventure and friends who won't let them down.
