Anime Preview: Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 2 The Battle for Doldrey
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 1 The Egg of the King was just the beginning where we learn of the crimson Behelit Griffith wears around his neck since he was a child. In this sequel, the second of three, we find out what Griffith has in store for his men, and those who would oppose him.
Like the Lord of the Rings movies, there is that sense of scale and epicness of the battle scenes which encourages further watching, or at least that is what I thought when I watched this, the movie version of the original anime series that started out life as a manga. Griffith started out as a courageous warrior who led his men into battle and his men followed his orders without question - in this second movie, Guts decides on his own destiny and it doesn't seem to include the Band of the Hawk, so when he goes on his merry way, he doesn't think what might happen to his former comrades without him.
This movie like the last has to be seen to be enjoyed as it's got good production value and an interesting twist coming very soon for the last movie.
