Previously on Sengoku Basara, the era was a tumultuous time where various warring factions were fighting for supremacy. War was the only thing on everyone's minds, and fighting for what they believed in was in their hearts. The only one who stood a chance of beating the opposition was the Devil King of the sixth heaven, Oda Nobunaga. He had no qualms about killing those who stood in his way of his opportunity for greatness, not even his sister and her husband. To say he was ruthless would be an understatement. The Oda family became associated with war and carnage as they tore into the other great nations.

There were other contenders for success though, the One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu, Date Masamune and a Takeda warrior of Kai, Sanada Yukimura who were once bitter enemies who later decided to put their past behind them and join forces to bring down Nobunaga. Other warriors from the four lands supported them and came to back them up. Karakura Kojuro from Oshi, Takeda Shingen of Kai, and Sarutobi Sasuke who is Yukimura's trusted ninja, The War God Uesugi Kenshin and female ninja Kasuga.

Ishida Mistunadi a warrior himself finds he is also a casualty of war when he sees his master has fallen in battle. He is left with the sorrow of the war's aftermath and seeks revenge for his death. He doesn't seem to be the brightest guy though as he confronts the wrong person at first until he sees Date Masamune with his own eyes, recognising him from his six swords. Elsewhere other warlords seek an end to the war in the hope of peace. Takeda Shingen and Uenigi Kenshin wanted this too and Sanada Yukimora is told by his master that he is worthy of being a warrior in his own right and can aid the others in their quest for bringing peace to the other nations.

There is no doubt of the production value when you consider that there is at least ten minutes worth of recap from the previous story before we get to the movie. The dynamic looking intro menu, and opening song, plus the bonus material on the disc is more than enough to tempt anime enthusiasts to get their hands on a copy of this DVD, and as it also comes in Blu-ray, it looks even better. Ishida Matsunada is a passionate warrior who is furious that his master got cut down in battle by a man he loathes. Throughtout the entire movie he is enraged by him who doesn't seem to understand how he feels. Yukimora however, is the one with the sense of humour who  has a strange relationship with his lord that can cause more than a few chuckles.

Bonus Material: Four Panel Theatre: Another Last Party, Making of the Last Party, Trailer and Commercial , Text less Opening and Closing Animations.

Verdict: Slick, visually amazing - get this one in your collection asap!
